What have you been reading?
hey all, the forums are a little empty so i thought a topic on what we have all been reading would be a good way to start building a little community.
i wont put spoilers in ofc but if anyone wants to know a bit more bout what ive read im happy to answer
i just finished "Welcome to Hoxford" and i must say it was brilliant. A true gem of the horror genre. im gonna try and link a picture but im not sure on how to do so so it may not work =P
written and illustrated by Ben Templesmith, a unique story and gorgeous art make this what i would say is one of the best horror comics ive read in a long time. defiantly worth a read.

Re: What have you been reading?
I have been reading for the 20th time "Persepolis" by Marjane Satrapi.
Simply beautiful.
They made an animation movie from it and it is one of the best animation movie I ever saw.
Funny, moving, sad and deep.

Re: What have you been reading?
If Marvel is your thing yes Daredevi is always a solid read. Punisher has gone off the boil now though. The change of artists on the main title was poorley judged and made me drop it, and I'm guessing the brilliant Goran Parlow will not be staying on the MAX title for long.
It's worth giving both CAP and Iron Man a go.
They have excellent creative teams and if you can go back and pick up the last couple of year's back issues you'll be in for some very satisfying entertainment!
Outside of Marvel check out the all Hellboy Universe stuff. BPRD in particular is superb and Image Comics' Chew is something very different and original... well worth getting in early on.
best

Re: What have you been reading?
Thanks for the advice mate, means a lot, I feel completely lost in comics' past & present sometimes lol
I saw that Huat was pencilling Punisher and got an issue but the story could've been better
Just looked up Chew it sounds pretty damn good, I keep on meaning to explore outside of DC & Marvel but I'm usually too unsure to know what's what lol

Re: What have you been reading?
I know what you mean. When I was younger I only read Marvel. Seems crazy now, but it's incredible how much peer pressure and marketing can affect you when your only 13. :-)
I think the first non Marvel books I read where 2000ad. I was fascinated by the more hard edged characters like Rogue Trooper, Judge Dredd and Halo Jones where I dicovered Alan Moore. I still love that stuff now.
Marvel and DC really are just the tip of the iceburg, that's one of the reason I do the shows. To help folks dicover new stuff.
Hope you have fun discovering new stuff too.
