What are your BICS 09 stories? Pictures? Here's mine:

Got up bright and early for another convention. Went with friend Jan and Dad, AKA: The queuer.

Got there and got Dad in the queue for Pasqual Ferry, one fo the main guys I wanted to see. Whilst he was doing this, I went over to see Will Sliney, THE main guy I wanted to see - wonderful guy. Irish, same comic interests as me and same kinda things that got him into comis. Great to chat to, and also very very talented. Did me lovely ...

2009 Launch Party - hit or miss?

Previous launch parties were held at Bennets, a huge pub, seemingly perfectly suited to a large comic loving crowd. It was always packed and great fun.

This years launch was at the Panama Bar, on entering the establishment(no "guest" list etc), we were absorbed by the pink lighting and intense dance beats, drowning all attempts at conversation(maybe I'm getting old). We arrived late in Birmingham, delays on the M25 etc so took a taxi to the party and got there before 10, and ...

Convention Etiquette

Ok these are just my views and no doubt there are more things to add - so please share.

Firstly the basis of my thinking here is primarily based on UK conventions which are slightly more homely than the US mega conglomerate fests. However manners cost nothing and I believe that the points raised below holds true the world over.

I should also point out that almost every aspect of this code of conduct has been broken by me on at least one occasion – and I hang my head in shame for this.

Who won the 2000AD submission comp?

BICS was my first ever comics convention and I had an excellent time. Everyone at the event were so nice.

My one disappointment was the 2000AD submission contest. I bottled out of entering. When I watched the first round I wish that I had found some cojones before. Most of the ideas were real crummy and I'm convinced I would have made it through the first round. Damn my lack of confidence.

Anyway, can you tell me who won the writing gig?

Great organization

Thanks for the great organization, vastly improved compared to last year. Early access for pre-regs, clear floor plans, enough space for signing session lines. In general Millenium Point is a great location, far better than Bristol where you have to run from the hotel to the hall back and forth. Some of the artists, such as Chiarello or Staz Jonson, also told me how much they liked the Birmingham location.

Again, great job. Hopefully you met your targets in terms of attendance and next year ...
